If you’ve made the killer Bollywood playlist to end them all on Spotify, you may have noticed that it’s not what it once was, and that’s because there’s hundreds of Bollywood music tracks missing on the platform, which is incredibly annoying. This has happened for boring business reasons, rather than anything actively nefarious.

Spotify say that they’ve not been able to reach an agreement with Bolly heads, so a number of faves have expired from the app.

A number of huge hitters with millions and millions of plays have now vanished, leaving swathes of playlists bereft of bangers. And if you’re not au fait with Bollywood music, you’re absolutely missing out.

Of course, for those who predominantly listen to music that isn’t Western pop, this is dreadful news to which you’d suspect there’s a huge chunk of people who will not really see much point in having a Spotify account if they can’t listen to what they want.

Spotify have to wrestle with licensing deals and publishing rights like anyone else, but you have to wonder if they low-balled the music from India and Pakistan because it’s not Taylor Swift or Drake or whoever. The streaming company have said that they’re going to try and renegotiate with Zee Music (one of the biggest entertainment companies in India), but we’ll have to see eh?

Anyway, let’s share one of our favourite Bolly tracks for the fuck of it because it absolutely bangs.
