All the hip kids love Arthur Russell, so here’s some news to keep them happy – there’s going to be a new album of music which will compile nine previously unreleased tracks.

It feels a bit like graverobbing doesn’t it? We’re an insatiable bunch though, us record buyers.

Anyway, the LP is called ‘Picture of Bunny Rabbit’ and will be released on June 23rd.

You can have a listen to one of the tracks below. It’s been available in a live version in the past, but this isn’t a live version.

This new album is comprised of songs from completed masters found on two test pressings, which were provided by Russell’s family.

Seeing as Arthur Russell was only afforded one solo LP in his lifetime, and there’s been a myriad since then – many of which have become classics – maybe use this energy to give support to the present day Arthur Russell’s so we’re seeing artists getting their flowers now, rather than posthumously.

It’s what Arthur would want, as he was a champion of the new and the avant garde.
