When The Weeknd came back with a sort of New Wave angle on his pop-R&B, everyone went nuts, as well as his face. He was making a point about celebrity culture or something, we forget.

Well, keep that in mind when you’re listening to the new and very excellent track from Fireboy DML. It’s called ‘Someone’ and while it doesn’t sound a jot like The Weeknd, it does share that New Waviness, except this is cut through Afroswing/Afrobeats and once this gets going, it really gets going for real for real.

This is the Nigerian’s first single of the year and we’re very into it. Have a listen.
