WORDS ABOUT MUSIC + POP CULTURE

ANDREW GOLD’S PSYCHEDELIC LP GETTING REISSUED

Andrew Gold is a brilliant man and he’s been behind a series of incredible pop songs that are the living embodiment of West Coast perfection. He’s a nepo baby, sure, but we don’t hold it against people who make brilliant things. ‘Thank You For Being A Friend’, ‘Lonely Boy’, ‘Never Let Her Slip Away’, ‘How Can This Be Love?’, and of course, his project with Graham Gouldman that birthed ‘Bridge To Your Heart’ – the man’s dedication to pop is clear.

Well, away from the sunshine pop, there’s a cult cut called ‘The Fraternal Order of the All – Greetings from Planet Love’, which was Gold’s paean to all things psychedelic and Pepperland.

While it sounds like a cavalcade of passers-by and drop-ins, it’s actually mostly performed by the man himself with a fistful of pals, which you’ll be glad to know, includes Graham Gouldman.

The good folks over at Cherry Red Records are reissuing the LP (available on CD and 10 inch splatter vinyl for the heads) and it’ll be remastered and have souped up art and all that good stuff that lets you know they care.

It’s got a number of gorgeous tracks that are a homage to all things great in the psychedelic, popsike world. You’ll hear The Beatles, Beach Boys, and Zombies in there – it’s super duper stuff.

You can pre-order it here.
