Pharoah Sanders’ 1977 album ‘Pharoah’ is getting a reissue in a box set from Luaka Bop, which is cool and all, but the real rub is that there’s going to be previously unreleased music, which is great news! It’ll end up on streaming services if you’re not earning box set money, don’t worry.
September 15th is the date you’ll be hearing stuff and tracks will be lovingly remastered and all that good stuff. There’ll also be a booklet featuring rare photos and all that jazz, all signed-off by the man himself before his death.
In more fun news, the next couple of years will see a tandem celebration where This year and through 2024, the box set will be supported by international performances under the banner of ‘The Harvest Time Project: A Tribute to Pharoah Sanders.’
