We were idly reading this piece about the Fatback Band and, jovially we’ll note, they were talking about how underrated they are. They’re 100% correct and they are without doubt one of the most influential bands to ever do it.
In the piece, they mentioned a track that we didn’t recognise and if you’re not into clicking links to read interesting things about cool groups, firstly, what are you playing at? Secondly, the piece doesn’t embed the track in question so we’re doing it.
‘We pioneered line dancing with Bus Stop, hip-hop with Personality Jock, and house with Goin’ to See My Baby,” says Bill Curtis. “But Fatback still don’t get the respect we deserve.”
As we knew the other songs, you can find them for yourself. Here’s ‘Goin’ To See My Baby’. It’s not House as we know it, Jim, but it is a tremendous bit of future disco that probably should have been in our DJ sets for years, but alas, we can’t know everything. Get on this. It’s a belter.
