First Dates has started a new series on Channel 4 and honestly, we don’t watch it anymore. Not because it’s bad – we’ve just got other stuff on. However, the mere mention of the show reminds us of one of our favourite songs – ‘Pinball’ by Brian Protheroe.

Protheroe has been the narrator of the show for years now, and is as identifiable as Frenchman Fred and the assortment of lovely and ghoulish people who are looking for love or attention on TV.

However, this new series has ruffled some feathers as Brian has been replaced by another narrator. It’s someone called Daisy May and we’re sure they’re very nice. However, they haven’t made an acid folk gem like ‘Pinball’, so let’s have a listen.
