HABIBI GARAGE PUNK DETROIT FUZZ

Apologies if you thought this article was about the ace Habibi Funk comps that always tickle the pickle. It’s not, but don’t stop reading! This is a new group called Habibi and they’ve got new stuff out which is fun as shit.

There’s a new track called ‘Do You Want Me Now’, and that’s taken from the forthcoming LP ‘Dreamachine’ on Kill Rock Stars. That’s due to drop in May. It’s fun, it’s skuzzy, it’s bubblegum, it’s noisy as all hell.

“‘Do You Want Me Now’ is kind of a punk anthemic ode to finally knowing yourself,” says lead singer Rahill Jamalifard. “When you finally can stop listening to the voices outside and put away all this expectation and pressure – like caring about what people think and just looking inward. ‘Do You Want Me’ evolves to ‘I actually don’t care if you do.’ No more time or patience for that, I’m old enough and wise enough now, and it’s a liberating feeling.”

Co-founded in Detroit, you get a killer mix of Iranian roots with Michigan fuzz and a smudge of ’60s girlgroup action. You don’t need to know more from us really.

Just press play already.
