Well, we told you that Boards of Canada had started dropping clues, and now it seems official that they are indeed back, having uploaded a video to their official channels (as have Warp Records) simply called ‘Tape 5’.

The clip is similar to the VHS cassettes that had been sent to a select few, except this time, the music is crystal clear and sounds – as you’d imagine – spellbinding and beautiful. It also finishes with a lovely hexagon sun, as seen on the tapes and posters.

Of course, this being BoC, nothing has been made clear, there’s no release dates, there’s no clue as to what is being released, but you’d imagine that they wouldn’t go to all this fuss unless it was a new single or a new LP. This doesn’t feel like a limited Record Store Day release.

Anyway, if you want to get impossibly excited, press play on the video. The next bit of news we get may well be concrete confirmation of something.
