CRAMPS LOST ’77 LP DUG UP TO BE RELEASED

A while ago, Henry Rollins (Black Flag etc) and Ian MacKaye (Fugazi, Minor Threat) said they were working on a project together, and everyone just kinda assume they were making some new music with each other – not the case.

After the initial ‘no, it ain’t us’ shutdown, Rollins explained that they’d been working on “a demo, recorded in 1979, by a legendary punk band that recently came into [his] possession”, and now we know that this band is The Cramps.

There’s new music coming out on the group’s Vengeance Records, which Rollins is reviving with the albums. The LP of note is a lost cut from ’77 called ‘Gravest Gravy’, and you’ll be able to buy it, hear it and the rest, on August 21st – so not long to wait!

“Gravest Gravy is one of the purest collections of unrestrained, wild music you’ll ever hear—like Jerry Lee Lewis unchained, like Elvis meets Tarzan—like it should be. The Cramps were one of the greatest bands in the history of recorded music, and anyone who heard or saw them, knows and abides by this groovin’ truth. From their inception to this day, the band has fans whose enthusiasm for their life-changing music never wavers. The Cramps made this music for the love of Rock ’n’ Roll. Lux and Ivy made this record for you.” says Rollins

And there’s a new track to hear called ‘TV Set’ too! This was initially meant to be the band’s debut single, so waste no time and press play already!

Pre-orders available now, but these are Stateside – keep an eye out at your local independent record shop for their own deals.
