Carly Rae Jepsen taught the hipsters how to fall in love with pop music, and she’s coming back with a double album that sounds like she might have them on a fish hook all over again, splitting the LP between two very hip sounding things.
The new album is called ‘Day And Night’, and it’ll be a whopping 24 track monster. However, this doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to be a bloatfest – this sounds like it’ll make a lot of sense. Let us explain – see, ‘day’ and ‘night’ means it’ll almost be like two albums dropped at the same time, and it’ll drop September 18th, incidentally.
Friday, you’ll hear Jepsen’s first efforts from it, with a single called ‘On Wires’.
What interests us most is that the ‘day’ portion of the album will apparently be inspired by “’70s psychedelic pop”, which could mean a number of things, but we’re hoping for ‘The Visitors’ by ABBA, and ELO, 10cc and things like that – that would be great! We’ll have to see though.
The ‘night’ half is focusing squarely on the dancefloor. Let us hope for some slinky disco and deep house infused pop – that’d be lovely and pairs well with ’70s psychedelic pop, right? One side a daytime party, and the other, just for when you get the bags in.
Should be good!
