SILVERWINGKILLER hail from Manchester, but don’t be expecting any of that usual ‘bucket-hat ’90s nonsense – this is a genre swerving, cocky-as-hell thing that has a big ass breakbeat in it and a global groove to roll around in and ruin your clothes.
They call themselves ‘International Industrial City Punk’, and you make of that what you will, but we’re interested in dirty arps and breaks, and rather like that their own record label is called ‘1000% TRIAD FUNDED’.
The lead single from their second EP – ‘Desperate Struggle’ – is called ‘WORLDSTAR’, and its a dancer alright, albeit a punk-funk, digital-sleaze thing. We’re sure these are a real laugh live, and we mean that.
They say the song is “built around a loop of 70s Somali disco, with these huge drums and fucked-up electronics around it. It’s repetitive, hypnotic and stupidly confident. There’s a real swagger to it, but it still sounds rough enough to belong to us.”
Press play on this.
