The amount we’ve been listening to Slayyyter’s music, we probably should have reviewed her album. Ah well, she’s doing fine without our input as she spearheads some version of pop music that’s a bit more unhinged and brassy – and clearly, it was needed amongst all the politeness of a lot of rock and pop.

Well, it seems like she’s prepping us for a new record with the release of a very noisy thing called ‘Crank 2’.

The track is accompanied by a video which is self-directed (lots of nice high contrast black and white and Americana – it suits her). The new record is apparently called ‘The Worst Man In America’, following this years’ girl equivalent.

This is a rejig of the first ‘Crank’, and she’s got form for this behaviour with her ‘Brand New Chanel$’/’Beat Up Chanel$’ offerings.

Whatever she’s doing, it seems she’s struck a chord with the kids who want something a bit more in-yer-face during these recessionary times. Whatever this new genre of pop ends up being called, it sure is a whole lot of fun.

Suck it and see for yourself, and listen to ‘Cannibalism’ while we posit the theory it’s the best Post Punk track of the last decade.
