You ought to know by now that certain record labels are worth putting your trust in, and Mr Bongo is certainly one of those. They’re releasing a new compilation with Somewhere Soul that is an absolute banger, and it’s not even out yet!

This is the second instalment with them, which Mr Bongo refer to as a “carefully curated collection of exclusive, genre-spanning tracks from [the] most hotly tipped, contemporary emerging artists and underground forerunners. Start to finish it takes listeners on a 24-hour journey from morning to the dancefloor. Moving through soothing and gently bubbling ambient folk, jazz and soul, to sunlit Brazilian MPB, atmospheric instrumental psych and dancefloor-friendly electronic productions.”

Doesn’t that sound great?

Somewhere Soul started off as a music blog and then a popular Instagram channel, curating killer records with main man, Josh Mason-Quinn. Josh says, “it’s far more memorable discovering music from another human than some instant algorithm recommendation that’s devoid of context”. With that, this comp feels kinda like a throwback in the best possible way, where you’re required to simply trust someone who wants you to listen to some great music. We’re hugely into it.
