If you asked ‘Missy who?’ after reading that headline, then maybe this isn’t the website for you. Anyway, there’s been a lot of noise around FLO this past year, and Pop Justice’s Peter Robinson is a fan and genuinely, that’s something you should always take notice of. They won a BRIT Award, so they’re absolutely in the ascendency.
To pop a cherry on the whole thing, they’re teaming up with Missy Elliott which has to be a massive honour for the new group. The track is called ‘Fly Girl’ and samples ‘Work It’, but features Missy on it proper, so don’t worry, it’s not just a sample and getting a ‘feat’ thanks to some opportune wangling.
The group had a ’90s influenced heater called ‘Cardboard Box’ which got a lot of ears pricked up and taking notice. This live version is sensational stuff, so click play on it already.
Here’s an extended snippet of ‘Fly Girl’ which has a very strong Ciara and club ready Destiny’s Child vibe to it, which you can’t ever grumble at. It’s getting released tomorrow (23rd March) so by the time you read this, it might be on YouTube already.
We’ll do a follow up on it no doubt. If we remember. Fact is, FLO don’t really need the help of a little blog like us, so if we forget, they’ll be fine. Pre-save it on Spotify or something if you’re super keen.
